Dear Friends:
Our community is at a happy crossroads
in time. As we continue to grow in the coming years, we can choose
to become:
-
Like Phoenix (nice
for a warm weekend, but a bit sprawling and disconnected for my
tastes), or
- Something more dynamic and
beautiful than any city has ever been:
- Keeping our beauty while
providing needed infrastructure,
- Developing livable and
workable communities,
- Providing valued,
cost-effective public services,
- Simplifying regulations,
- Protecting a fair playing
field for private enterprise, and
- Keeping taxes down.
Our Salt Lake County Council will
have a lot to do with which path we take.
Along with the Mayor, it is
responsible for many of our roads, public safety, fire fighters,
ambulances and dozens of basic services. It also plays a key role in
our county's planning and zoning.
I am running to represent you on the
Council simply because I believe that to have the community we all
want, we need our county government to be:
- Open - Welcoming participation
from all citizens to discuss important topics in the light of day,
- Independent - Making
clear-headed decisions, without ties to special interests,
- Creative - Going beyond slogans
and simplistic answers to draw from the best thinking around the
county and the country,
- Efficient - Using our tax
resources wisely on the highest citizen priorities to improve
lifestyles and lives while keeping more money in your pocket.
Thank you being involved in our
community. Thank you for considering my race for the Salt Lake
County Council. I hope you will join us. Together we can build the
community of our children's dreams.
Sincerely,
Mark Crockett
Republican for Salt Lake County Council -
